چکیده

the presence of a low transferrin level is explained by this abnormal tumour ferritin having the capacity to bind 300t, of the serum iron. Excessive serum levels of ferritin may lead to an increased iron transfer to hepatic cells.:' In this patient the localisation of excessive iron is consistent with such an effect mediated by tumour ferritin. This in turn may have produced a stimulus to iintestinal iron absorption. I Although haemochromatosis will increase the risk of primary tumour development5 it is an unlikely occurrence in this case. The atypical iron distribution limited to liver and spleen, lack of family history, and high iron binding capacity are against the diagnosis of primary haemochromatosis. Probably the bronchial carcinoma produced an abnormal ferritin that resulted in excessive iron absorption from the gastrointestinal tract and increased iron deposition in the liver and spleen.

Lateral Hypothalamus Corticotropin Releasing Hormone Receptor-1 Inhibition Modulates Stress- Induced Anxiety Behavior

Stress is a reaction to unwanted events disturbing body homeostasis which influences its pathways and target areas. Stress affects the brain through the lateral hypothalamic area (LHA) orexinergic system that mediates the effect of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) through CRH receptor type 1 (CRHr1). Therefore, this study explores the outcome of stress exposure on anxiety development and t...

The Effects of Dopamine Receptor Agents on Swim Stress-Induced Inhibition of Naloxone-Induced Jumping Behavior in Morphine-Dependent Mice

In the present study, interactions of dopamine receptor agonists and antagonists with water swimming stress (WSS) on naloxone-induced jumping in morphine-dependent mice were examined. Mice were rendered dependent as described in the methods section. The opioid receptor antagonist, naloxone (1 mg/kg), was injected to elicit jumping (as a withdrawal sign). The first group exposed to WSS in the pr...

P-188: Mammary Gland Changes during Chlorpromazine Treatment in Female Rats

Background: Antipsychotic drugs are medications used to treat schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Antipsychotic drugs can cause unwanted side effects. Hyperprolactinemia is an important but neglected adverse effect. The aim of the this study was to consider the effects of Chlropromazine -induced hyperprolactinaemia on mammary glands of female rats . Materials and Methods: In this study...

Stress-Induced Spatial Memory Deficit Reversed by Basolateral Amygdala NMDA Receptor Inhibition in Male Wistar Rats

Introduction: The present study investigated the role of the Basolateral Amygdala (BLA) N-methyl-D-aspartate  (NMDA) receptors in stress-induced spatial memory disturbance among the male Wistar rats. Methods: The male Wistar rats (Average weight =200 g) were cannulated bilaterally in the BLA, and entered the study (n=6-8) after one week. They received seven electro–foot-shock stress sessions o...

NMDA glutamate receptor inhibition in the dorsal hippocampus reduced the maintenance of electric foot shock stress -induced anxiety and depression like behaviors in mice

Introduction: In the present study, the effect of inhibition of glutamate NMDA receptors located in the dorsal hippocampus on the maintenance of anxiety and depression like behaviors induced by electric foot shock stress was investigated. Materials and Methods: NMARI male mice were divided into two categories. The first category received electro foot shock for 30 minutes after injection of mema...
